Appligent Document Solutions:
Unprecedented Expertise with PDF Technology

Appligent, Inc. and Document Solutions, Inc (DSI) today announced their companies would combine to become Appligent Document Solutions. The merger brings together one of the earliest independent software firms to specialize in PDF technology with the first professional services company dedicated to PDF solutions.

The new company, Appligent Document Solutions (ADS), will provide enterprise-class software, services and support for applications utilizing PDF technology. DSI Founder Duff Johnson will become Chief Executive Officer (CEO), of the new company. Virginia Gavin will be the President and Chief Operations Officer (COO) and Mark Gavin will be the Chief Technology Officer (CTO).

The company headquarters will be consolidated at Appligent’s facility in Lansdowne, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Philadelphia. Duff Johnson will be based at the company's new Boston office.

Background

Appligent is the leading 3rd party provider of server applications for the manipulation of PDF files. Appligent was the first to provide true redaction for PDF with the introduction of the Redax plug-in for Adobe Acrobat in 1997. Founded by ADS CTO Mark Gavin in 1988 as Digital Applications, Inc., the company renamed as Appligent, Inc. in 2001.

Document Solutions, Inc is the leading PDF service bureau providing PDF forms, PDF JavaScript programming, Adobe Acrobat automation, CD and DVD-ROM development, accessibility / Section 508 services and publication document imaging. The company was founded by ADS CEO Duff Johnson in 1996.
